Timéo Pons, a 6-foot-8 guard from France, committed on Friday to play for new coach Eric Olen and the UNM Lobos this coming 2025-26 season. He is the 14th player either committed or already signed to play for the Lobos this coming season and will join his teammates on campus after he is done with trying out for the French U19 national team. If he makes the team, he will compete in Switzerland at the end of June and early July in the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.

Jun. 6—There will be a French connection in the Pit this coming basketball season. Timéo Pons, a 6-foot-7 guard from France, announced on his Instagram page on Friday that he has committed to play for the UNM Lobos. AdvertisementHe has played for Nanterre 92, a professional club in France for the past three years, though never as a paid professional. As such there isn't expected to be any eligibility questions to sort through for the NCAA. Pons will be classified as freshman.
