The Nikon Coolpix P1100 is, to put it mildly, a unique camera. Unique, at least, in the modern era of point-and-shoot cameras. Its headline feature, its only major feature really, is an absolutely bonkers 125x optical zoom. That kind of reach is incredibly rare at any level of photography and especially at the P1100's price. You could sit in the stands of a football game and take photos of the opposing team's playbook. You could be in the cheap seats for a concert and see the conductor's score.

Mainstream TV companies occasionally dabble in the projector market, and while Sony has had good results with its high-end models, other brands can have limited success. TCL, a company best known for its big TVs, also manufactures a little projector, the A1, and it's… a bit odd. It does a few things differently than most projectors and, while I'm all for trying new things, in this case the results are decidedly mixed.

A few years ago, I titled one of my first SoundStage! Solo columns “The Endless Hassle of Connecting to In-Flight Entertainment.” At the end of the article, I mentioned that some airlines were rolling out upgraded entertainment options that included the ability to connect to your own Bluetooth headphones. Well, on a recent cross-country flight on United, I finally won the Bluetooth lottery. It wasn’t even some special perk in business class. I was in steerage.

Some news! My new book, Budget Travel for Dummies, will be available in January! Guess I need to hurry up and finish writing it... https://t.co/CNQzCqiaYd

Hi all. I don't tweet much anymore because the fun got sucked out of it by you know who. I've got some cool news to share soon, but for now, be kind. Oh, and this blue check was fun for a while but I'll be glad it's gone. There's no scenario where I'd pay to create content. https://t.co/UxALgTXdDc
