Before testing a collection of fog machines for Digital Camera World, I never considered that I’d end up permanently carrying one of them in my photography kit bag. To me, a fog machine was something Hollywood directors, such as Ridley Scott, would use to fill empty background space in large locations with a moody mist. Fog was out of my league.

I was highly impressed by the intimate quality of the close-mic audio captured by the Maono PD300X. In fact, I’ve recently used it to record the voice-overs for a range of Digital Camera World video reviews. By working with the PD300X attached via the Maono BA37 Boom Arm to my office desk, I feel more organised and professional than I did when sitting on the sofa recording directly into my MacBook Air’s built-in mics.

The Boyalink 3 is an affordable option to enhance audio quality for video presentations. It offers 48 kHz / 24-bit recordings for clear sound, even from 60 meters away. With two mics, you can easily record interviews on the go without cables. However, the small transmitter mic can experience signal drop-out if it loses line of sight with the receiver, and placing it into the windshield can be challenging.

The Ulanzi Filmog Ace is the item that you didn’t realise was missing from your camera kit bag. It’s compact and highly portable, but you can use it to fill a large area full of fog and add extra atmosphere to your portraits and video footage. The Filmog is especially useful when used in conjunction with an RGB LED (such as the Viltrox K90), as the back-lit fog takes on the colours of the LED. This is an easy, affordable, and very effective way to elevate your footage to a more cinematic level.

The Viltrox K90 RGB Fill Light kit should prove attractive to videographers who want to add drama and atmosphere to a scene by using animated video effect presets. Portrait photographers will also benefit from this dual light kit as they can use one tube as a key light while filling in shadows with the second tube.

I’ve watched Doctor Who since the late 60s. For me it peaked with the @rtalalay directed ‘Heaven Sent’. Rewatching this masterpiece of TV drama for the 30th time. Approx! https://t.co/NQuNBDH4FS

I asked Grok what it thought about Trump V Musk. "It’s a messy spectacle of hubris and betrayal. Musk overplayed his hand, thinking he could bully Trump like he does X critics. Trump... swung back harder. Both are more interested in winning the narrative than fixing anything."
