LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Fin, Feather, Fur, Food Festival, also known as F5, has raised more than a half a million dollars for the Team Gleason Foundation in its three years of existence. The fourth edition of the cookoff will be Thursday at Blackham Coliseum. Team Gleason is a nonprofit organization providing resources, technology and adventures for those living with ALS, according to its website. Almost 33,000 Americans have ALS.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Bishop of Lafayette, the Rev. Douglas Deshotel, was taken by surprise by the death of Pope Francis. Deshotel said despite his recent health issues, he had resumed some of the normal daily tasks of being Pope. “He met with Vice President Vance yesterday, I think, and then also gave a blessing from the balcony of St. Peter’s,” Deshotel said. “The usual one they give every Easter.

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) — For the past month, Notre Dame High School officials opened the suggestion box, so to speak. Development Director Kalya Link said the school trying to grow the Pioneer Legacy, and is looking for input. Stakeholders in the school began looking at the legacy in the fall. Link says input from others who hold Notre Dame close to their heart can help shape the school’s future with the new Vitality Project. “We then opened it up to the community and hosted six sessions,” Link said.
