It looks like there's a very good reason why the rumoured God of War prequel game wasn't shown at the most recent State of Play, as it's reportedly been delayed into 2026. As is a Summer tradition, last week was one of the busiest in some time for gaming news. PlayStation and Xbox both had their own dedicated showcases, while Summer Game Fest offered up a ton of announcements ranging across every console.

As someone lucky enough (or just bad with money, you decide) to own every home console released in the last few years, I’ve never understood the excitement for games getting ported to the Switch. While it’s great for those who only have access to Nintendo’s hybrid handheld, outside of indies and smaller-scale projects, most ports simply run and look worse. With that cynicism in mind, I was sceptical when the Switch 2 was revealed with a whole library of ports under its belt.

After months of us all pretending that we hadn't seen that piece of artwork, Nintendo has finally confirmed that Donkey Kong Bananza is bringing back Pauline. As great as Mario Kart World is, the most exciting launch window game for the Switch 2 is unarguably Donkey Kong Bananza. We've been waiting for the big guy to get a new game for some time, and Bananza looks to be a massive evolution for the character, which makes sense since it's seemingly made by the Mario Odyssey team.
