Floyd Mayweather bet on himself long before becoming boxing's wealthiest star. In 2006, ‘Pretty Boy’ was making a name in the sport with the help of Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum, who famously promoted Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao among other greats. Mayweather was earning around $3million per fight, thanks to his perfect 36-0 record and status as the IBF welterweight champion, when he decided it was time for a change.

Russian heavyweight Denis Boytsov had all the makings of a serious contender. The Oryol puncher boasted an excellent 130-fight (115-15) amateur career, which included a gold medal at the World Junior Boxing Championships. And while he was on the shorter side for a heavyweight at 6ft 1in tall, Boytsov more than made up for it with an aggressive front-foot style, complemented by a dynamite right hand.

Chris Eubank Jr won't run back his fight with Conor Benn without the support of boxing fans. The Brits put on an instant classic at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month in a continuation of their fathers' epic rivalry in the early 1990s. Eubank Jr was caught on unsteady legs by some massive shots early on, but his experience shone through in the second half of the fight as he smothered Benn's work and finished strongly down the home straight to get his hand raised via unanimous decision.

Chris Eubank Jr was stunned to hear that Oleksandr Usyk had Conor Benn winning their British classic last month. The Brighton boxer got his hand raised via unanimous decision in a high-output affair that saw Eubank Jr outland Benn by 152 punches (367 to 215). All three judges scored the fight 116-112 in Eubank Jr's favour. However, unified heavyweight champion and pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk, told talkSPORT that he thought Benn edged the all-British showdown.

Canelo Alvarez and Devin Haney saw their stock fall over the weekend despite having their hands raised. Haney outpointed Jose Ramirez on Friday evening at New York's Times Square in a low-output shutout. The 503 punches they threw on the night were the sixth fewest in CompuBox history. Yet remarkably, it wasn't the least active bout of the weekend.
