A man is to be arraigned at the Crown Court in Derry next month after the decaying body of his father was found wrapped in a duvet and plastic sheets in a refrigerator in his home. John Garrett O'Sullivan (56), a PhD graduate in engineering, is alleged to have prevented the lawful burial of his father between July 1 and July 18 last year after police officers, following family concerns, entered the house.

A cocaine dealer who was arrested following a police chase involving speeds of over 115mph, which forced oncoming cars to swerve out of his way, has been jailed for 40 months. Dylan Lockhart (28) committed the driving offences while on bail for a series of drugs offences. He previously pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine, cannabis and pregabalin and also admitted dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

At Londonderry Crown Court today, the defendant, from the Beraghvale area of the city, was also banned from driving for five years.

A Co Donegal woman — once the recipient of a civic award in recognition of her cross-community work in Derry — has pleaded guilty to a series of financial offences involving the charity totalling £862,574. At her re-arraignment before Judge Neil Rafferty KC at the city’s Crown court, 61-year-old Wendy MacBean, from Railway Park in St Johnston, Co Donegal, admitted eight charges she'd originally denied.
