    RAYMOND – Eleven teams took part at the annual Henrie-Weisel Track and Field Invitational last Thursday at Leo Rubstello Track on the Raymond HS campus. Elma was victorious in both meets. The Raymond-South Bend girls were third of 10 teams, and Willapa Valley was sixth. The RSB boys finished fifth of 11 teams, and WVHS placed seventh. “The Henrie-Weisel Invitational went very well on Thursday,” RSB Head Track and Field Coach Mike Tully told the Herald.

    MENLO – Pe Ell-Willapa Valley swept a twinbill from Forks in fastpitch softball at Trojan field in Pe Ell last Wednesday. The Titans won the opener 8-5 and took the nightcap 18-5. “In the first game our bats were able to put together 12 hits against a very capable pitcher,” PWV Head Fastpitch Coach Eric Hopfer told the Herald. “(Lauren) Matlock and (CJ) Sipp both had big hits for extra bases and (Sophia) Milanowski was the constant in our offensive equation, going 3 for 4.

    RAYMOND – Pe Ell-Willapa Valley split two baseball games last week – winning over Ocosta 9-5 in Westport Thursday and suffering a tough loss against Naselle, 7-6, at Pe Ell stadium on Saturday. Titan head coach Kent Smaciarz briefly recapped the two games. “It was a quick turnaround after going to Forks for two games...Came out a little sluggish and left too many runners on the bases, but we pitched a couple unproven arms and eked out a win on the road.

    MENLO – The Titans of Pe Ell-Willapa Valley are off to a 5-2 start in the fastpitch season despite losing to state power Adna 19-5 at AHS last Monday (March 31). “The team has been doing good thus far considering the circumstances,” PWV Head Fastpitch Coach Eric Hopfer told the Herald Monday morning. “We have had a lot of sickness going around the team.     MENLO – Willapa Valley competed at the eight-team Rainier Track and Field Invitational at Rainier HS last Thursday. The Lady Vikings tied for seventh and eighth place, and the Vikings finished eighth. The host Lady Mountaineers won the girls competition and Toledo's Riverhawks were the boys invite winners. Standouts for the Vikings and Lady Vikings were Hank Swartz, Sam Sheary and Cody Strozyk. Swartz was second in the javelin. Sheary finished third in the discus and shot put.
