Everyone has an addiction, it’s unavoidable. It’s impossible to not have one and it’s different for everyone. There are some very healthy and positive things people can make themselves addicted to and then there are those addictions that ruin people’s lives. Our goal here is to understand that addiction is normal and natural while also holding true that we need healthy habits that provide a positive externality rather than those that are practical.

Life has two types of value — one comes from within, Intrinsic Value, and the other comes from factors outside of yourself, Extrinsic Value. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), takes a look into both and how they play into how people self-identify. In this context, Intrinsic value is how you feel about yourself when you’re by yourself. It’s how you see yourself. The extrinsic value is how other people see and think of you.

In recent weeks France has been shaken by constant and violent demonstrations. The reason is the increase in the retirement age from 62 to 64. The reform is highly unpopular but is key to Emmanuel Macron’s program, and what he was elected upon as president. It was not voted through in parliament, but Macron pushed it through by decree, as the Constitution allows. A motion of no confidence against his government was defeated in the parliament.
