Oldham have completed the signing of former Hull KR trialist and French winger Mathieu Pons on a deal until the end of the season. Pons has been playing in the French Super XIII with St Gaudens – but has also spent time in the Championship last season with Halifax Panthers. He began 2024 on trial with the Robins but failed to secure a deal. He came to Rovers’ attention after scoring 10 tries in 14 games in his maiden year in France.

St Helens star Ben Davies has joined Championship side Oldham on a permanent deal with immediate effect and could even make his debut for the Roughyeds at Doncaster this weekend. Saints head coach Paul Wellens moved to quash speculation over Davies’ future only weeks ago but now the versatile 25-year-old has left the club on a deal that ties him to Boundary Park until the end of 2026.

Oldham boss Sean Long has confirmed that Nene Macdonald has returned home to Australia for the birth of his child and will miss the final game of his three-match loan. The on-loan Salford star scored his first try in an Oldham shirt as he collected Josh Drinkwater’s kick in the Roughyeds’ thrilling 30-18 Championship win over Featherstone at Boundary Park on Sunday. He had also played in Oldham’s 1895 Cup quarter-final win over Barrow a week earlier.
