OU is expected to sign Mercer quarterback Whitt Newbauer out of the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report by On3’s Pete Nakos. Newbauer visited the Sooners on Friday after entering the portal a week ago. Oklahoma was interested in adding a veteran quarterback to provide depth behind starter John Mateer, following the departure of former Western Carolina QB Cole Gonzales. OU also has sophomore Michael Hawkins Jr. and freshman Jett Niu currently on the roster.

OU women’s basketball coach Jennie Baranczyk was named an assistant coach for the USA Women’s AmeriCup Team on Tuesday. Duke coach Kara Lawson was named the head coach for the team, while Old Dominion coach DeLisha Milton-Jones and Baranczyk will be assistants. The three coaches were chosen by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee. “The goal is to put together a competitive team, one that represents all the standards that we hold dear to us,” Lawson said.

Sherrone Moore is still expected to make the trip to Norman in 2025. It was reported by ESPN on Monday that the second-year Michigan head coach he will serve a “self-imposed” suspension for Michigan’s Week 3 and Week 4 games. The punishment stems from the advanced scouting and sign-stealing case, in which Moore allegedly deleted a thread of 52 text messages with Connor Stalions, a former Michigan staffer at the heart of Michigan’s alleged sign-stealing scheme.

Skip to main contentOU has rehauled its wide receiver room this offseason. Since the end of the 2024 season, Oklahoma has added seven receivers to its roster—five from the transfer portal and two true freshmen. The latest being McNeese's Jer'Michael Carter who signed with the Sooners on Wednesday. It also lost six receivers to the transfer portal. The only returning players in the room are Deion Burks, Jayden Gibson, Zion Kearney, Zion Ragins, Ivan Carreon, Jacob Jordan and KJ Daniels.
