February, 2025, LONDON –A taxpayer-funded loan being paid off since 2012 by the government-backed pension provider, Nest, will have cost a member on an average salary almost £1,200 in additional fees by the time it’s due to be paid off (2038), new research from the personal finance comparison site Finder reveals. Nest, the UK’s largest workplace pension provider with over 13 million members, introduced a “temporary” contribution charge in 2012.

A fund consisting of 38 stocks chosen by ChatGPT has risen by an impressive 41.97% in the 2 since it was created on 3 March 2023 by the personal finance comparison site finder.com. This fictional fund has outperformed the average of the UK’s 10 most popular funds by 14 percentage points, which have collectively gained just 27.63% in value over the same period. At its highest point so far – on 23 January 2025 – the ChatGPT fund was beating the most popular funds by almost 23 percentage points.

British computer maker Raspberry Pi went public last week. It’s not often that a technology company is raised from seed to successful business in the UK, and then makes the decision to press ahead with an initial public offering (IPO) in London. Understandably, investors in the UK were excited about the recent inclusion of Raspberry Pi on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). Raspberry Pi shares were off to a hot start but have since cooled down.

Other new additions include more financial analysis. Challenger trading platform Lightyear has launched features that allow traders to follow and copy the moves of others on the platform. The share trading app has also added 18 new financial metrics and boosted the interest rates paid in its “Vaults”. Lightyear isn’t the first platform to allow traders to copy other customers’ moves. eToro pioneered “social investing” with its CopyTrader element.
