Tracy Ellixson has resigned from his position on the Person County Board of Commissioners. The 51-year-old commissioner was in his first term on the board after finishing with the second highest votes in last year’s election. Ellixson’s resignation comes two weeks after the Board of Commissioners considered declaring his seat vacant after questions arose about his residency in Person County. Ellixson had been absent from board meetings since the commissioners Feb.

Two people are in custody in relation to an early Saturday morning shooting in Roxboro. The Person County Board of Commissioners will consider the future of one of its own Monday. After tabling their discussion on the item April 21, the commissioners will consider again the presence of Tracy Ellixson on the board. The board will convene at 6 p.m. Monday in the auditorium of the County Office Building at 304 S. Morgan St.The meeting will be open to the public in person and will be live streamed on the county’s YouTube, youtube.com/@personcounty.

The North Carolina Utilities Commission’s public hearing on the second of two combined cycle natural gas turbines at Duke Energy’s future Person County Energy Complex at Hyco Lake will be held next Monday. The NCUC will open the public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5 in the Superior Courtroom in the Person County Courthouse at 105 S. Main St.The Utilities Commission will also hold a virtual hearing Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. via Webex. Registration for the online hearing ended Tuesday.
