Chesterfield County's Board of Supervisors has approved two rezoning requests for data center projects near Richmond, Virginia. As reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, one of the projects is located at 750 Watkins Centre Parkway and spans 350 acres, while the other is located at 4200 Mosely Road, on 979 acres of land in the planned Upper Magnolia Green West technology village.

KT Cloud has completed its 10MW data center in Yecheon-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. The company held a completion ceremony for the AI cloud data center on May 29, reports the South Korean Business Post. Dubbed the Gyeongbuk AI Cloud Data Center, the project was a public-private partnership, established with the Gyeongsangbuk-do, Yecheon-gun Office. KT first acquired the site and the auxiliary facilities in 2023.

The UK's Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSIT) has told Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator, to add data centers to its remit. As first reported by Computer Weekly, Ofcom CEO Dame Melanie Dawes said that the department expects data centers to be included in the enactment of the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill (CSRB). Dawes made her comments in an oral evidence session overseen by DSIT, held on May 20.

Information about Walmart and Microsoft's cloud and AI relationship has been leaked. Business Insider reports that a leaked document showed that Walmart spent around $580 million on Microsoft's Azure cloud services between June 2023 and May 2024. BI adds that the document details Microsoft's "Azure Consumed Revenue," which measures the dollar value of Azure services consumed by customers, whether they paid a full retail rate or a discounted rate for Walmart.
