CANADA - The Bank of Canada is holding its key interest rate steady at 2.75 per cent. This is the first time since last June that the rate hasn't decreased. This will give the central bank more time to see how the U.S. tariffs will impact Canada's economy, says Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem. The report showed two scenarios for how the uncertainty surrounding tariffs could develop economically. The tariffs could be negotiated away quickly.

There were 5 local businesses that were chosen as finalists. After a presentation and Q&A, a panel of judges chose the three winners. OXFORD COUNTY - A provincial Trillium Grant was given out to Domestic Abuse Services Oxford (DASO) and Ingamo Family Homes so they can to add to their gender based violence programming. The two shelters are adding new initiatives to what they are calling the "Can We Talk About That" campaign. The first one is a podcast where they will talk to experts about what gender based violence is, what to do about it, and what support is available.
Devonshire Construction Project Begins Today

WOODSTOCK - A multi-year reconstruction project is starting on Oxford Road 35. The construction project starts today and will be carried out in two parts. They are starting at The Oxford Road 59 Bridge to Vincent Street (Vansittart Avenue and Devonshire Avenue intersection). A single lane will be open going northbound from Vincent Street to Tecumseh Street and there will be detours available for southbound traffic. Oxford County is expecting the construction to be completed by July.

INGERSOLL - The Rotary Club is hosting their annual Community Easter Egg Hunt. It’s a free event hosted at the Victoria Park Community Centre Baseball Diamond. The hunt will start at 10 A.M. this Saturday, but guests are asked to come early to register and get a ticket so they go home with a chocolate bunny. Children aged 2 to 10 are able to participate. Eggs will be distributed around the baseball diamond and the field will be divided into 3 different age groups.

This is a 21.3 per-cent decrease from March 2024. WITAAR President Cassandra Benard, says the slowdown may be due to tariffs.

WOODSTOCK - Police are looking for a missing woman. the 27-year-old, Kyra, is 5'10" with a slim build and was last seen Tuesday afternoon in the area of Ingersoll Road. She was last believed to be wearing a black jacket and black boots. Both her family and the police are concerned for her well-being. PARIS - A woman stole around $500 from a Rexall. Brant County OPP responded to the theft that took place last Tuesday morning on Grand River Street North in Paris. The woman is described as a middle-aged white woman with medium-long blonde hair. She was wearing white shoes, black pants and sweater, a blue jacket, grey scarf, and was carrying a large grey tote bag. She left the parking lot in a white van.
