1. IntroductionOesophageal (OC) and gastric cancers (GC) have been identified as ‘cancers of unmet need’ due to their late diagnosis and subsequent poor survivability [1]. Diagnosing these malignancies early to enhance the chances of curing patients is challenging, and, consequently, the 5-year survival rates of these diseases are reported to be as low as 15.0% for OC and 21.6% for GC in the United Kingdom (UK) [2].
