Chicago First Alert Weather: Cloudy, breezy day CHICAGO (CBS) -- A strong fall flavor is in our weather today and tonight, with plenty of clouds, cool/chilly temperatures, and some lake effect sprinkles mainly along the Illinois-Indiana border. Winds will relax tonight and some areas inland could dip down into the mid-30s if skies have a chance to clear out which would mean some patchy frost is possible in those areas, according to CBS 2 Meteorologist Gerard Jebaily.

THE ROADS SEEM TO BE MOSTLY DRY AND WE’VE HAD A LOT OF RAINFALL SINCE THURSDAY. AND HERE’S HOW SOME OF THE TOTALS SHAPED UP. MOST PLACES, INCLUDING MILWAUKEE GENERAL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THAT BEING AROUND AN INCH, INCH AND A HALF OF RAIN. SOME PLACES SAW OVER TWO INCHES.

BIG FREEZE for everyone tonight! A storm system is likely to bring substantial rainfall Thursday & especially Friday. Widespread 1-2" likely which is GREAT news for the drought, bad news for the O's game. Rain tapers on Saturday and we warm back up to the 70s next week! #mdwX https://t.co/GaUSjwie9m

*FREEZE LIKELY* 🥶 This is why I have advised against planting. Temps will dip below freezing for the next 2 nights. Tomorrow will be stuck in the 40s & windy to give the cold some teeth as well. Temperatures will recover a bit by Wednesday afternoon into the 50s. #mdwX https://t.co/OInppIzgZw
