A total of 75 healthy male and 75 healthy female fish of the selected Egyptian strain of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, were caught from the pond of the National Tilapia Genetic Breeding Center of FFRC. The body weight of tilapia was 120.3–168.4 g with an average of 143 ± 17.86 g. All samples were randomly divided and transferred to three water tanks and maintained in aerated freshwater for two weeks (dissolved oxygen 6.9 ± 0.2 mg/L, pH 7.1–7.3, temperature 26 ± 0.5℃ [70]).
