1 INTRODUCTION Circadian rhythms are the physiological, physical, and behavioural changes an organism experiences over a 24 h cycle (from circa diem, i.e., “about one day” in Latin). In humans, circadian rhythms of activity characterise the variations of levels of physical activity over a 24 h period. Circadian rhythms of activity can be measured in an ecological way using actigraphy.
