The Nationals’ outfield prospect was a phenom at Independence High School in Franklin, Tennessee, crushing the ball so regularly that he went No. 8 overall in the 2020 MLB draft and earned the nickname Bobby Barrels. Hassell finished the 2022 season as one of the most promising minor league players in all of baseball, and was traded from the Padres to Washington as a major part of the blockbuster Juan Soto deal.

A game-worn Michael Jordan jersey from the Chicago Bulls’ 1996-97 season has sold for $4.68 million via Sotheby’s. The Bulls jersey was worn in at least 17 games during the season, including the game in which Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Allen Iverson crossed over Jordan. 1996-97 Chicago Bulls game-worn Michael Jordan jersey is the fourth-most expensive NBA jersey of all timeAccording to the Sotheby’s listing, Jordan wore the jersey across five months from December of 1996 to April of 1997.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis was examined after aggravating a left foot injury in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s 115-103 loss to the Detroit Pistons. The nine-time All-Star had been monitoring it since the summer. Davis, 31, also sustained a right foot stress injury in a matchup with the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 16, 2022.

World No. 3 Coco Gauff defeated World No. 2 Iga Swiatek in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) to remain undefeated at the 2024 WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Gauff and Swiatek have changed coaches since the US Open and plan concerted efforts to improve their games. Gauff is the 2024 French Open ladies’ doubles champion (with Katerina Siniakova), and Swiatek is the French Open champion. However, both did not perform well at the Olympics (Swiatek won the bronze) by their lofty standards.

37-year-old Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week’s ATP Finals event in Turin, Italy citing an injury issue. Djokovic is the seven-time ATP Finals champion and the two-time defending champion. Djokovic’s 2024 season did not result in any Grand Slam wins, so he remains at 24 for his career. However, he did add one elusive item to his voluminous resume: the Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics at Roland Garros this summer.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers entered Monday evening as the only undefeated teams remaining in the NBA. They were both in action during the night’s slate of games, both playing at home against talented opponents. One of them was victorious in a hard fought battle, the other in a blowout, and we’ll make it until at least November 6th with both remaining unbeaten.
