1. Introduction According to the WHO, suicide is the third leading cause of death among adolescents globally (1). Moreover, the suicide rate in South Korea is the highest among the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries, and suicide is the leading cause of death among Korean adolescents (1–3). In global studies, the prevalence of depression and suicide ideation among adolescents has been reported at 12.0 and 14.0%, respectively (4, 5).
