    Trader Joe’s continues to expand past its more humble beginnings. Joe Coulombe had been managing a failing convenience store when he chose to try a new approach by starting a grocery store chain. His goal was to build a store for people who view food as something exciting and want more than just standard brands. However, a recent study by researchers at Penn State and Taipei Medical University in Taiwan narrows identified another serious downside. After analyzing five years of data on more than 6,700 people in the U.S. who were 65 or older, scientists found that insomnia and the use of sleep medication are associated with a higher risk of developing a disability within one year.

Higher sodium intake is associated with higher blood pressure — an issue that nearly half of American adults contend with. Finding the ideal ratio of sodium and potassium intake, however, could be a better solution for lowering blood pressure than simply decreasing sodium.

Research from Mass General Brigham, a Boston-based health care system, that was recently published in a scientific journal of the American Medical Association concluded that people on Medicare Advantage plans aren’t using the coverage they’re entitled to.
