    Data and information from two recent studies point to ways to curtail the progression of type 2 diabetes. Clinical trial results for Eli Lilly's Zepbound and Mounjaro, with main ingredient tirzepatide, show medication decreases the risk of diabetes by 94% in adults who have pre-diabetes, have obesity and or are considered overweight. That finding is the result of researchers studying 938 patients over three years.

    A study has found that nearly two-thirds of baby food sold in supermarkets does not meet the nutrition guidelines established by the World Health Organization. For the study, published in the scientific journal Nutrients, researchers analyzed 651 foods meant for children 6 months to 3-years-old and discovered 70% of foods do not meet the agency's guidelines for protein content. Dr. Brian Sheets of Stamford Health tells News 12 protein is especially important for young children.

There are currently two variants of the disease that are newer and deadlier - Clade 1 and Clade 2. The variants have been in circulation since 2022.     A new study revealed that untreated high blood pressure can lead to serious health problems, besides increasing people's risk of heart attack and stroke. Findings in the Journal Neurology found that people with untreated high blood pressure had a 36% higher risk of being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. This is compared to people who have blood pressure numbers that are considered normal, which includes people on medication.

The study did not show an association between occasional marijuana use and certain cancers. Researchers at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California analyzed millions of medical records focusing on cannabis-use disorder.
