Once again this year in Lewes and surrounding villages, from Ditchling to Muddles Green and in a vast circle from Fletching to the sea, the late summer tide of Artwave engulfed the area in a glorious, lavish outpouring of creative talent. Three weeks in September, where on almost any day you could count on being able to attend an art exhibition.

The day after the general election, on 5 July, saw me heading to Downing St to witness a Labour Prime Minister taking power after 15 years of Tory government. Somewhat sleep deprived, excited and emotional, with a mind full of every cliché for intense joy you might care to think up, I hauled a couple of bottles of real champagne (no cut price fizz for that new dawn) to share with old friends and any new ones I was hoping to meet whilst celebrating in Whitehall.

UK Harvest has once again teamed up with West Sussex County Council to tackle food waste in our communities. Their latest initiative in the fight against food waste is a booklet that will be available free of charge at all community food hubs and which can also be accessed online – It is a fabulous publication with masses of information packed into 12 colourfully printed pages.

After spending the night in the audience at Channel Four’s Riverside Studios for the election-night special, Britain Decides, the two Ginnys grabbed a hasty cup of coffee at a local Costa and set off for Downing Street on the morning of Friday 5 July, determined to join the crowds waiting to greet the arrival of the new prime minister.
