1. IntroductionWhite spot lesions (WSLs) are defined as the subsurface demineralization of enamel [1]. This form of demineralization modifies the refractive index of the enamel, and the contrast in refractive index between the healthy enamel and the demineralized area generates a lesion that exhibits a milky-white opaque appearance, which is easily distinguishable from the neighboring healthy enamel [2].
