    Let's see... A nice little cantaloupe from "Mike" in Honduras. An even nicer one from Guatemala. Mexican avocadoes. Strawberries from Abbotsford! Local greenhouse tomatoes, too, along with radishes and kale from the Fraser Valley. But, oops-there's also some organic Fuji apples from the old U.S. of A. So, my fellow shoppers, how's it going so far with all this singing from the "buy Canadian" song sheet?

    Many work behind the scenes. But many don't. Some are early childhood educators. Some are bank tellers or engineers who maintain huge building systems. They analyze samples at Whistler Medical Clinic's lab, and greet you at the eye clinic. They ring through your groceries, and answer your questions at the visitors' centre. Some were born in Sea to Sky, others were born in the Philippines and came here later in life.

    There was somethingequal parts comforting and invigorating about the multi-Grammy winner Sheryl Crow very publicly selling her Tesla last week then donating all the money to National Public Radio in the States-the equivalent of CBC, our own dynamic national public broadcaster much maligned by Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. "Comes a time when you have to decide who you're willing to be aligned with," she posted on Instagram. Indeed. At least Sheryl didn't use toxic X to post.
