As 2024 comes to a close, we decided to look back on the year and the many Vermonters we captured in VTDigger’s photography. About 50 fifty people braved snow and plunging temperatures to attend the annual Longest Night Vigil in front of the Statehouse on Friday, Dec. 20, to remember people who lost their lives while experiencing homelessness. People spoke and people sang and people held candles and each other in the darkness and the cold.
