    Adjacent to my school lies the shawarma hub. For the last three years, I’ve walked past it. Promising to only ever enter it on the day I’ll write my last paper. Maybe this will become a ritual, whereby in the future I identify a place I’d like to go around where I live or work. But only visit it once I’ve achieved a milestone. Similarly of how I know some people associate music or even football wins with a certain place. And that is where I currently sit.

    "Truth is the first casualty of war."While not exactly at war, Kenya is going through a conflict of ideals between elected leaders and the populace on how the country should be managed. Just as in war, truth becomes a casualty during civil unrest. The consequences of misinformation and disinformation are widely known in modern times as technology enables false information to spread worldwide.

    It's almost a given that street protests in Kenya will degenerate into a spectre of violence, looting and loss of lives. Modern democracies encourage the expressions of public anger but criminal elements often exploit the formation of large crowds to engage in robbery that severely hits retail outlets. What should business owners do? If there's advance knowledge of possible riots, it is safer to stay closed until calm is restored.

    Lots of people find themselves in a spiral of endless debt after taking loans they thought would put them on the path to riches. The debt is owed to micro-finance institutions, banks and informal sources, such as shylocks and savings groups. If you borrow money to pay previous debts, you are effectively in a debt spiral. Without an increase in your income or a change in spending habits, you will remain in that cycle of borrowing and repaying.

A clever government would have eliminated the Butere Girls play at zonal level. Where were state agents when the play went through sub-county, county and zonal levels? Now the state is embarrassing itself getting into a fight with teenagers.
