HAJIN: As part of the ongoing IEC campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, an awareness programme on drug abuse was organised at the Town Hall Hajin on Thursday. The event, conducted by the Municipal Committee Hajin, aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction. Executive Officer MC Hajin, Farhana Showkat, presided over the programme. SRINAGAR: Students from different colleges across Kashmir have raised concern over the ongoing strike by contractual teachers, saying their studies are getting affected badly. Speaking to Kashmir Reader, the students said that classes have been disrupted for the past several days due to the pen-down strike by contractual teachers. “We are forced to stay at home as there are no regular classes being held,” a student from a degree college in north Kashmir said.

Bandipora: Security forces on Wednesday successfully defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in SK Payeen village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. According to officials, a joint patrol party of the PP Ajas,Army and the crpf detected a suspected pressure cooker IED on the Srinagar-Bandipora road near Sunset Point in SK Payeen. Bandipora: A suspected object was found on the Bandipora-Srinagar road near Sunset Point, SK Payeen, in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday. Officials said the suspect object was concealed inside a rice cooker, raising concerns of a potential terror threat. Upon detection, the area was swiftly cordoned off, and a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot to dispose off the explosive. “The bomb squad is currently on the job to defuse the IED safely,” an official stated.
