Melbourne commuters are battling peak-hour travel chaos with fifteen metro train lines facing major delays of up to 50 minutes. Trains were not running through the City Loop following an incident at Melbourne Central Station. Melbourne Central Station was evacuated and fire crews called to the station after an alarm was triggered. The incident was deemed a false alarm just before 8am.

Dry lightning started a fire at the Little Desert National Park in the early afternoon on Monday, which razed more than 69,000ha of land within hours.
