In 2010, Sydney’s cafe scene was nowhere near as strong as it is now. After a mega five-show run in Melbourne (and some excellent eating, drinking and partying), three-time Grammy Award winner Dua Lipa jetted northwards for the Sydney leg of her Radical Optimism Tour, which kicked off at Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday March 26. There are two more Sydney shows before she crosses the ditch for a couple in New Zealand. The pop star is known almost as much for her impeccable taste as she is for her music.

When Sarah Shaweesh closed her Newtown cafe Khamsa in late 2023, after her lease expired, there was an outcry of heartbreak from locals. More so than she was expecting. So when a new space became available in St Peters, she jumped in. But this week Shaweesh announced Khamsa 2.0 would be closing for real this time. The final service will be Sunday January 19.
