Loud explosions heard in Sheffield on Sunday morning were part of a planned chimney demolition, South Yorkshire Police has confirmed. Several chimneys at a site on Clay Wheels Lane were demolished at about 08:00 GMT and the noises were "nothing to worry about," a force spokesperson said. One resident, who did not know the demolition was due to take place, said her "whole house was literally shaking" and the sound was "worrying".

Several high-value items were smashed or stolen from the 19th Askern scout hut in Doncaster in September. A 120-year-old Little Bo Peep costume has been restored to its former glory ahead of a new exhibition. The Fashion at Play exhibition, opening in March at Lotherton Hall, will explore the history of children's fashion from the 1600s to the present day. Leeds Museums and Galleries' curator of costume Natalie Raw said the costume tells a unique story about children's tailoring in Leeds.
