Growing up in Beijing, Jacinta Gu had always imagined herself going to college in America. CHINATOWN — Chicago’s Chinatown is about to bloom with the fragrant allure of jasmine tea. Molly Tea — a beloved international tea brand from China — will open its first Midwest location Friday at 2227 S. Wentworth Ave. Molly Tea will be the first milk tea brand from mainland China to open a branch in Chicago, according to store manager Minnie Yang, adding a new taste among Chinatown’s 13 existing bubble tea shops.

SOUTH LOOP – Bird collisions at McCormick Place’s Lakeside Center have decreased by more than 95 percent since the installation of bird-safe window film in summer 2024, according to data from Field Museum in a news release. This improvement comes after a catastrophic event on Oct. 5, 2023, when more than 1,000 birds collided with the building’s glass façade in a single night during migration. The bird-safe film was applied to 120,000 square feet of McCormick Place’s glass over the summer.

CHICAGO — Days after the Chicago Transit Authority suspended its use of X, formerly known as Twitter, some riders have stepped in to fill the gap. One of them is CJ Black, a software engineer who runs a technology consulting firm. He created a replacement X account, @AlertsCTA, to continue providing real-time transit alerts. “When I saw [the CTA announcement], I felt as though it’s something that should exist, whether the CTA likes it or not,” Black said.
