The fact Alejandro Garnacho has been told he can leave Manchester United underlines why I have persistently said he is a classic example of a young player who has had too much too soon. That's too much admiration, too much money, too much respect from within the football club and too much from outside, from the public. It puts players like him in a headspace that is detrimental to their growth as a human being and as a football player.

Ruben Amorim's record at Manchester United is indefensible but, bizarre as it may sound, I still think the club should stick with him. I like him, he talks with a lot of common sense. He comes across as an honourable guy, honest and I believe he knows what he's doing. Sometimes though it just doesn't happen. In his short tenure, it just hasn't worked so, over the summer, he will need all the help he can get.

As Pep Guardiola walks out at Wembley on Saturday, he does not know what version of Manchester City will turn up. And that's a horrible position to be in as a manager. When I was covering the FA Cup as a TV pundit, Manchester City were playing League One Wigan Athletic in the fifth round in 2018. I remember saying, listen, City won't lose today because they have suffered a cup upset before against Wigan, when they lost the final in 2013. Their cage had already been rattled.

Arsenal's performances in the Champions League have underlined one thing, that they are one piece of the jigsaw away from being a trophy-winning team. The only problem is, it's the biggest and generally most expensive piece of the jigsaw. To date, Mikel Arteta has spent around £650million in his five and a half years in charge. Arsenal have to be prepared to go again and, if not, I fear the manager may be looking for a new job come the end of next season.

Watching Lamine Yamal against Inter Milan this week, no one at 17 should be that good. It's just wrong! My tongue is placed firmly in cheek by the way but there's no denying we are watching the emergence of a very special talent. He's already played 100 first-team games and he's not 18 until July. I said similar things last summer when I first watched him for Spain at the European Championship and what is encouraging is that he has continued to improve.
