    Imagine you come home to find a burglar rifling through your front room. You are terrified but, in indignation and to protect your property, you try to apprehend them. They make good their escape but you get a good look at them as they flee. You call the police and they arrest someone who matches the description nearby. You provide a statement, pick them out in a video ID parade and, after answering no comment to all questions, they are charged.

    We must learn to say "no" more often Last week I met up with my literary agent, David Headley, to talk about my next books and for a general catch up. Whilst we come from very different backgrounds, it was uncanny how both of us are our own worst enemies. Like the song from Oklahoma, we just can’t say no. Anyone who has flown on an aircraft will be familiar with the instruction to "put your own oxygen mask on before helping others".
