An early enrollee football player was arrested SundayA freshman football player has been arrested, Swamp247 can confirm. The Gainesville Sun's Kevin Brockway was the first to report the arrest. Due to the player being a minor, the Alachua County's juvenile detention center will not release the player's name nor an arrest report with the charges. The Gainesville Sun's report states the unnamed player has been arrested on a third-degree felony charge of false imprisonment (dating violence).

The Florida higher education system's Board of Governors has rejected the University of Florida's hiring of Dr. Santa J. Ono as the university's 14th President. Ono received six votes in favor of him becoming President, with 10 voting against him. The UF Board of Trustees now must restart the search process, which can be done either publicly or under Florida's confidential search exemption.
