MOUNT VERNON - A Knox County grand jury handed down 10 indictments in its most recent session. One was Dominic Antonio McDonald, 29, of Mount Vernon, who was arrested by Knox County Sheriff's deputies around 6:30 a.m. on March 27 after forcibly entering an Apple Valley residence, according to the sheriff's office. GAMBIER - Mount Vernon City Schools Superintendent Bill Seder presented the findings of the district's facility advisory committee at this week's Gambier Village Council meeting. The advisor committee, composed of parents, teachers, school administration, business, and community leaders, aimed to pinpoint the district's needs for the foreseeable future. APPLE VALLEY - A man is in the Knox County Jail after he was arrested in the wake of an alleged home invasion in Apple Valley on March 27. Dominic Antonio McDonald, 29, was arrested by Knox County Sheriff's deputies around 6:30 a.m. after a three-hour hostage situation at an Apple Valley residence. On March 28, McDonald's bond was set at $100,000 without a 10% option, according to Mount Vernon Municipal Court records.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story was updated on April 1. MOUNT VERNON - On March 29, a laboratory confirmed that two new cases of measles were found in international travelers in Knox County. These individuals are isolated and symptoms are being monitored throughout their isolation periods. Knox Public Health (KPH) has been working with the individuals since contact tracing began and they have been in quarantine. No additional close contacts were identified as a result of the two positive cases.

MOUNT VERNON - One measles case was confirmed in Knox County on Monday. A traveling international adult contracted measles and is no longer infectious, according to a Knox Public Health press release. The state health agency is working with Knox Public Health (KPH) to follow up on contacts and promote opportunities for vaccination. KPH is also working with the individual and their healthcare provider to identify contacts, according to the release.
