HIGH POINT – Rockers hitting coach George Greer worked with Evan Edwards during the day on Thursday and the tips paid off when gametime came afterwards, according to club manager Jamie Keefe. Edwards, the former Southern Guilford and N.C. State standout, socked a pair of homers that drove in three runs as High Point downed Gastonia 6-3 in a rain-interrupted ending to a three-game midweek series that ended a six-game home stand at Truist Point.

HIGH POINT – Going into Wednesday night, the Rockers had never won on a walk-off walk in their history. That changed when Drew Mendoza, a former Atlantic League batting champ just starting his first season in High Point, drew a bases-loaded base on balls in the bottom of the 10th that forced in Luis Gonzalez and provided a 4-3 victory over Gastonia at Truist Point stadium. kAm“%92E’D |6?5@K2[” #@4<6CD >2?286C y2>:6 z6676 D2:5] “%92E :D H9@ 96 :D]”k^AmkAmv@?K2=6K 3682?

TRINITY — Jumping higher than ever, outfielder Gage Griffiths secured a victory for Trinity in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A baseball playoffs Tuesday. With two outs in the top of the seventh and a Mount Pleasant runner on base, Griffiths snagged a ball near the top of the centerfield fence for a game-ending catch, preventing the visiting Tigers from scoring at least the tying run as the Bulldogs, who led by as many as six runs, escaped with a 6-5 win.

HIGH POINT – The Rockers were unable to produce any late-inning heroics in their home opener Friday. High Point couldn’t deliver a score-tying hit against Lexington with men on base in each of the last three innings, came up on the short side of a 6-5 outcome at Truist Point and dropped out of a tie for first with the Legends in the Atlantic League South Division. kAm%96 =@DD 42>6 27E6C 2 962=E9J 4C@H5 2??@F?465 2D b[`da 6?;@J65 2? 62C=J =625 2?5 2 =2?5>2C< 9@>6 CF? 3J q6? p<=:?D<: E92E H2D fdE9 :?

HIGH POINT – Patiently, Wesleyan Christian’s batters took advantage when Westchester Country Day’s pitchers couldn’t hit the strike zone on a cloudy, misty Thursday evening. Each team mustered three hits but walks, hit batters, wild pitches and one critical error helped the Trojans cruise to a 13-0 victory in a Piedmont Triad Athletic Conference game stopped by run rule in the middle of the fifth inning. kAm“(6 92G6 E62> 2E 32ED[” (6D=6J2?
