This fall, Bucs receiver Mike Evans has a chance to break Jerry Rice's record of 11 consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards, a mark Evans matched in 2024. He has topped the 1,000-yard threshold every year of his career, so it's not surprising that Evans has more receiving yards over the past decade (11,633 yards) than any other NFL pass-catcher. At age 31 and entering his 12th NFL season, Evans continues to build on a Hall of Fame résumé.

Is there a bigger buzzkill to national expectations than quarterback uncertainty? A year ago, the Vikings lost rookie QB J.J. McCarthy to a season-ending knee injury during the preseason. The well-traveled Sam Darnold stepped in, and Minnesota managed to go 14-3, within a single win of the best record in the NFL. The Vikings then lost their playoff opener, but they've upgraded both lines of scrimmage in the offseason and now turn to McCarthy, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 draft.

Quick trivia question: Which NFL team has the fewest touchdown passes over the past three seasons? Yes, incredibly deductive readers, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have just 46 total in the three years since Ben Roethlisberger retired. That they're 29-22 in that span is incredible, as the next 14 teams with the fewest touchdown passes all have losing records since the start of 2022.

The Green Bay Packers are a curious team, and not easy to project. Last year, the Packers went 1-5 in division games in the NFC North but still managed to finish 11-6 overall, something never seen before in 23 seasons since the NFL's current divisional model started in 2002. There have been 100 teams that finished 1-5 in their division, and the average total wins for those teams was just 4.95.

With the arrival of June, the long summer wait for the 2025 season is about to begin. While much of the focus is on big-picture questions like who will win the Super Bowl, there are smaller storylines that will emerge during the season. Among those storylines are players nearing career records and milestones, and even a team landmark to watch.

RT @chsnole: If you happened to miss us breaking down minicamp with the great @gregauman yesterday for @BucsGameday, be sure to watch for i…

One note from Bucs minicamp I forgot to share here: tackle Luke Goedeke, who missed significant time with a concussion last season, said he plans to continue wearing a guardian cap over his helmet in the upcoming season. Likes the extra protection and doesn't mind it at all.

Not a bad depth signing. Out of 50 backs with 100+ carries last year, Akers ranked 28th in yards/carry.

The Saints are signing RB Cam Akers, per source.
