If you’re a Trump fan, he’s got a grand plan to Make America Great Again. If you’ve got Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) then he’s an imbecilic madman intent on destroying the world. Only hindsight will give us the correct answer, so it’s not a debate I’m interested in having. What is useful, though, is thinking through the implications of what he’s trying to do…assuming we know that much.

I first bought gold bullion from the Perth Mint in 2003. From memory, it was from Jaggards on Pitt Street. I’ve followed the gold sector closely ever since. I’ve made and lost money from gold stocks…numerous times. But I’ve always done well buying bullion when it’s out of favour…and holding it for years. Throughout that time, I’ve realised that the majority of investors — both pros and amateurs — don’t really understand gold. I don’t either, mind you.

With Murray Dawes still out sunning himself, there will be no Closing Bell this week. But don’t worry, Muzz will be back at it next week. Until then, we’re giving you one last chance to view our 2025 Gold Summer Series. These interviews, with renowned global experts and hosted by Nick Hubble, give you deep insights into the gold market. I don’t know where gold goes in the short-term. But watching this series left me pretty bullish on gold’s long-term future. Here’s another point to consider.

The US election is finally out of the way. Before we get on with our lives, it is worth dwelling on a few things… Trump won in a landslide. But the mainstream media (especially in the US) didn’t pick it. They didn’t want to believe it was possible, and so ceased to report on it objectively. This might not be the death of mainstream media. But it is certainly another self-inflicted cut. Any semi-rational person can see it. The business is a joke.

Everyone says they’re a long-term investor. But I don’t think that is true. Their actions betray their intentions. That’s because everything in financial markets is about short-term thinking. Brokers want you buying and selling. Stock ideas and recommendations are a dime-a-dozen. There’s Trump trades, and Fed trades…China trades and inflation trades. There’s a trade for every occasion!Buy this, sell that…The financial services industry knows that investors want rewards now, not later.

When an energy dude posts about gold… Check the gold-oil ratio, it makes sense! (Makes me bullish energy, not so bullish gold).

The best idea I've talked about publicly in a while ... was buying physical gold coins and gold bars at @Costco at a discount to spot at $2000/oz!

This is an old story, but interesting given what's gone down this past week. This trade war could be more bullish for $AAI (Alcoa) than the market currently thinks... https://t.co/rYDpqDDeay

Good read for members in $LYC. I've been discussing the strategic value of the company for some time now. Starting to pay off... ‘I congratulate Trump’ on his latest tariff chess move https://t.co/PcFgoE660r via @australian
