Only a few showers today with plenty of heat and humidity. Those near the coast will start warm this morning, near 80. Away from the water look for morning temperatures in the low to mid-70s. Although most will stay dry, there likely will be a few showers near the coast, west of I-75, during the morning hours. These showers will shift east as we go through the afternoon, ending up well east of I-75 by this evening.

One of the best things you can do here to protect yourself, your property, and your family is to know what flood zone you live in. All of us here in west central Florida live in some sort of flood zone, and understanding the risks associated with it is really important. To find your flood zone, simply put your county or city into Google with the words flood zone. Most city and county government sites have flood maps you can view to see what zone you live in.

Feeling more like June today. A few showers are possible along the coast this morning, though overall, today will start much drier than the last couple of days. We'll see plenty of clouds around and mild temperatures in the 70s. Look for partly sunny skies today. We'll begin to return to more typical June weather as we go through the afternoon. With an on-shore flow, a couple showers are possible closer to the coast during the first half of the afternoon.

More sct'd rain returning today. The morning will be mostly dry today with temperatures in the 70s. We're likely to just see mostly to partly sunny skies through midday. This will allow the temperatures to be noticeably warmer today compared to Monday with highs in the upper 80s. The heat index however will rise well into the 90s. Sct'd showers and thunderstorms will begin to develop in the afternoon and evening. There will likely be some impact from this rain to the morning commute.

Right after the 2024 hurricane season ended, the National Hurricane Center got to work analyzing their forecast, the position forecast, the intensity forecast, and how well they forecast rapidly intensifying storms. Here's what they found after looking back at all the storms we had during the 2024 season. First, the position forecast: going back to 1990, the numbers are spread far apart, meaning the accuracy wasn't good.

Here is a look at today's updated hi-res hour-by-hour forecast. Storms will begin soon near the coast but then spend much of the afternoon between I-75 and I-95. Later in the evening they may work their way back toward the coast. https://t.co/9myyaq2T9T

12:30 AM radar still shows a few showers out there moving south to north. Most of these are weakening but they will be around for at least a part of the overnight. Sct'd pop-ups return Saturday and Sunday afternoon. https://t.co/TR3rTS6279
