    HOLLAND – Greg Davies of West Bloomfield added the GAM Senior Match Play Championship to his Michigan Golf Hall of Fame resume, but it wasn’t easy. The 57-year-old financial advisor had to go 21 holes to turn back Tom Gieselman of Commerce Township Friday at Macatawa Golf Club and claim the 17th edition of the championship presented by Stifel Investment Services.

    FREELAND – Apple Mountain Golf Club, a host of several GAM tournaments in recent years, will welcome some of them back when the 10th GAM Super Senior Championship is hosted by the popular course Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16. A field of 80 GAM golfers ages 65-and-over will compete in the 36-hole stroke play championship, which crowns an overall Super Senior champion and presents a Legends Division for golfers ages 70-and-over.

    BIG RAPIDS – Katke Golf Course at Ferris State University for the first time will host the top junior boy golfers in the 46th Michigan Junior State Amateur Championship starting Monday. The field of 108 golfers, ages 18-and-under, has been determined by past performance and through sectional qualifiers. They will compete for the overall championship or in an age 15-and-under division through Thursday. Katke serves as home to Ferris State University’s landmark Professional Golf Management Program.
