University of Utah Provost Mitzi M. Montoya announced today that Wanda S. Pillow has accepted an offer to serve as the dean of both the College of Humanities and the School for Cultural and Social Transformation. Pillow, who has been serving as acting dean of the College of Humanities, will begin working in this dual role effective immediately.

University of Utah Provost Mitzi Montoya announced today that Associate Dean Pearl Sandick has accepted an appointment as interim dean of the College of Science. Sandick will begin working in this new role on March 15, 2025, and will continue to serve until a new dean is appointed. Montoya will work with the college before the end of the academic year to determine next steps and timing on a search process for a new dean.

The University of Utah Truth in Tuition hearing is scheduled to take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on March 5. The annual meeting is a required step in the process for Utah System of Higher Education institutions to determine tuition and fee adjustments for the upcoming academic year. After the hearing, the University of Utah Board of Trustees will vote on the proposed adjustments, followed by the Utah Board of Higher Education.

The University of Utah has named Manish Parashar, director of the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute, chair in Computational Science and Engineering, and Presidential Professor in the Kalhert School of Computing, as its inaugural Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. In this role, Parashar will represent the university and advise U President Taylor Randall as the institution navigates various AI initiatives.
