And it showed Saturday afternoon. In the first West Coast Conference face off, Gonzaga overcame you know what - turnovers - and the Cougars, 69-61, in front of 1,639 at Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars moved into a tie for first place with a big road win Thursday at Saint Mary’s.

The Zags have just one returning scholarship forward on their roster – Minnesota transfer McKynnlie Dalan, a 6-foot sophomore from Montesano, an A school located 45 miles west of Olympia. The other forward Gonzaga had big plans for this season, redshirt 6-3 freshman Lauren Whittaker. She had knee surgery four weeks ago and won’t play this season.
