    The UK government is considering plans to harness a “National Data Library” of anonymised data on the public to train AI to mark pupils’ homework and monetise population health insights, the Science, Innovation and Technology Secretary has said. In an interview with the Financial Times, the Rt. Hon. Peter Kyle said that the government has already created a “content store” pulling together education documents including lesson plans, anonymised pupil assessments and curriculum guidance.

    TSMC has opened a large new domestic fab in Taiwan. The new facility, claimed the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, would bring 7,000 jobs to the island, and bucks concerns among some industry watchers that the chipmaker was diluting its presence in its home country – thereby increasing the risk of invasion from its much larger neighbour, China.

    Tech Show London was busy – too busy, at least, for your average bedraggled and bespectacled editor to find his interviewees without tripping over someone gazing slack-jawed at the number of exhibits on show, or suddenly pausing to consult the in-centre map about which stall lay where. It was after having negotiated these very human obstacles that Tech Monitor encountered Servecentric’s founder Brian Roe, deep in conversation with an attendee and, one might hope for Roe, a potential client.
