The architect, whose revamp of Peter Womersley’s 1957 Category-A listed High Sunderland house collected a clutch of awards, will update the post-war Edgbaston property while also restoring elements of its original character. The house, set within the Calthorpe Estate, is said to reflect ‘mid-century architectural principles of openness and abundant natural light’.

AJ100 practice KSS was appointed last year to design the stadium upgrade, which will boost its capacity from 37,645 to 53,000. Now Leeds United has published pictures of the plans ahead of a series of public exhibitions later this month.

The heritage body announced that the pair would replace Duncan Wilson at the helm when he retires in October. Wilson revealed in January that he would be stepping down after more than a decade as chief executive of Historic England. The body said at the time that it was looking for a replacement leader to ‘drive a compelling vision and strategy to improve lives by promoting and protecting the historic environment’.
