For Gary Barton and other members of Vankleek Hill’s seniors affordable housing association, November 24 was a day of celebration with the official opening of the new addition to the Vankleek Senior Citizens Manor. “It’s good to see,” said Barton, former mayor of Champlain Township and now president of the seniors housing group. Special guest for the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new addition to the manor was Rob Flack, provincial associate minister of housing.

East Hawkesbury council had its first look at the preliminary proposal for the 2024 municipal budget. Chief Administrator Luc Lalonde presented his report on the first draft of next year’s budget during the November 13 council session. The total proposed budget, including day-to-day operation expenses and a list of capital works projects, is about $4.5 million. The municipal tax levy amounts to about $2.6 million.

Police are investigating the circumstances behind a fatal accident on County Road 17. Around 8 :20 p.m., November 21, police, paramedics, and the Hawkesbury Fire Department received calls about an accident on County Road 17 near the Golf Road intersection in East Hawkesbury Township. The fatal collision claimed the life of a 39-year-old Hawkesbury man. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Patrick Breault mesure 1,65 mètre, ou cinq pieds cinq pouces, et pèse environ 84 kilogrammes, soit 186 livres. Il a les cheveux blonds et les yeux bleus.
