INTRODUCTION Family conflict refers to expressions of resentment, hostility, tension, and criticism in the family (Fosco et al., 2012) and is related to internalizing problems in youth, including anxiety and depression (Moos & Moos, 1994). Family systems theory provides a set of theoretical principles to guide the conceptualization of patterns of family interactions, including conflict (Minuchin, 1985).
