A new search relating to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann took place this week (June 3 to June 5), close to where she went missing in Praia da Luz 18 years ago. Images taken by the Mirror show inside the abandoned farm buildings where search teams scoured through thick scrubland and empty buildings. German and Portuguese investigators wound down the operation in Atalaia, near Lagos, Portugal, on Thursday (June 5) after three days of searching scrubland and abandoned structures.

The famous Red Arrows will fly over Lancashire later this afternoon (June 7) as they journey from Scotland to Liverpool. The aerobatic team made the journey from their RAF Valley base in Holyhead to RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland on Friday (June 6). Their trip returning south today will depart RAF Lossiemouth in northern Scotland at 3.45pm, sweeping down over the Lakes and Lancashire before landing at John Lennon Airport in Liverpool at 4.45pm.

Thousands are expected to take part in the events which start on June 6Bolton council has announced major road closures across the city for the first weekend in June, as the town plays host to a major triathlon. The Ironman triathlon will take place again in Bolton from Friday June 6 to Sunday June 8, with three separate events across the weekend including 5km and 10km night runs on Friday, children's running events on Saturday and the 70.3 mile triathlon for adult athletes on Sunday.

Taking place outside Salford Watersports Centre, the place was packed with kids and parents undeterred by the driving rain to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend in style β watching hundreds of rubber ducks launched into the water.
