    Deerfield, N.Y. — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a man who touched a child at a park in the Town of Deerfield, deputies said Friday. The incident was reported to have occurred Wednesday in the early evening at the Deerfield Wilderness Park, 6329 Walker Road, according to sheriff’s Investigator Mark Chrysler. An unknown adult man reportedly inappropriately touched a young child who was playing at the park, Chrysler said.

    Syracuse, N.Y. — On the first weekend of Pride month, the Pride Progress flag was stolen from the All-Saints Roman Catholic Church in Syracuse and later burned, church officials said Friday night. The flag was stolen from the flagpole at the church, according to Meg Ksander, a pastoral associate. The church is at 1340 Lancaster Ave., within the Syracuse University neighborhood. The American flag, which was flying above the Pride flag, was lowered to half-staff, she said.

    Lenox, N.Y. — Eight people were sent to a Syracuse hospital with injuries after a head-on crash in Madison County on Friday afternoon in the town of Lenox. Around 2:40PM, Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the area of 7915 State Route 13 regarding a two-car, head-on motor vehicle accident, according to Samanatha Field, a spokesperson for Madison County. Deputies saw two cars off the western shoulder of the road with heavy front-end damage.

    Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse firefighters began a three-day training program Friday morning to become certified boat operators. The nationally recognized course — approved by FEMA and the U.S. Coast Guard — includes 40% classroom instruction and 60% hands-on training, according to a social media post from the fire department. Firefighters are training in the Inner Harbor, using fire boats and working alongside a fire truck.
